Developing World Connections (DWC) is a Canadian-registered charity and grassroots non-profit based in Kamloops, BC, focused on sustainable, locally-led development projects that address poverty eradication. Core work includes community construction (schools, homes, infrastructure), WASH programs, clean cookstoves, girls’ education and empowerment, and emergency response across Africa, Asia, and Latin/South America. DWC recruits short-term volunteers (1–2 weeks) for individuals, families, youth, and corporate groups. The organization delivers projects in 8 countries. I joined DWC as Marketing Coordinator, later advancing to Communications Manager and served for over 8 years. In this role I owned the organization’s external storytelling, digital presence, volunteer recruitment, donor engagement, and brand material. Reporting to the Executive Director, I managed campaign content, short-form video production, social media, outreach email, donor impact letters, and event promotion. I also joined select volunteer trips to capture authentic, first-hand perspective.
